Faqs about

Social & Community Support

How much does it cost to attend the group outings?

The program fees are charged in respect to the CHSP guidelines which provide that if you are assessed as having capacity to pay the co-contribution then it is charged in accordance with the CHSP fee level which if you are on a full pension is $8 per occasion. People Who Care can provide a free fee assessment with our Financial Counsellor to determine your fee payable or if your fee may be reduced or waived.

What are the activities that are on offer?

The Marmun Yorga Elders Gathering Group provides a range of outings in the community or in our centres to enjoy art, craft, yarning and separate men’s and women’s groups are also provided. Our “Pay Your Respects” memorial tours provide opportunities to lay wreaths and spend time remembering family members who have passed.

How can I join the group?

You must be assessed by the Regional Assessment Service as requiring support to participate in the community and be at risk of isolation or health deterioration if you are not able to access this support and companionship. Our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Ambassador can help and support you through the assessment process.
