About People Who Care

People Who Care Inc. (PWC) is an independent not-for-profit volunteer organisation which provides services (view a list of our services) to the frail aged, people with disabilities, carers and others with special needs to enable them to live independently for as long as possible and to avoid premature or inappropriate admission to long-term care facilities.

The organisation operates from offices in Guildford and Mandurah and covers the greater part of the Perth metropolitan and Peel regions.

Our Mission

To enable individual and corporate members to perform acts of charity by giving their time and resources to those in need in the community.

Our Vision

We are committed to realising a caring community - one in which those who are able to look after those in need.

Our Values

Caring

We value our volunteers, staff and the community. We will treat all with respect, dignity and compassion.

Integrity

We strive to conduct ourselves honestly and diligently – both as an organisation and individually.

Creative

To address the changing needs of the community, we will bring innovation, forward thinking and an entrepreneurial approach to our business.

Sense of purpose

We are motivated by our commitment to the community and our pride and sense of satisfaction in our work.

Making a difference

We are an organisation addressing disadvantage in the community.

Funded by the Home and Community Care Program (HACC) and the Community Visitors Scheme, People Who Care is overseen by a volunteer Board of Management made up of external and independent directors.

There are currently 22 paid full-time and 4 part-time members of staff supported by more than 350 weekly volunteers, 1,500 youth volunteers and a 1,000 corporate volunteers.

Well over 5,000 people benefit from PWC’s services each year. As the number of ‘clients’ continues to grow so too does the number of volunteers required to provide our services.
