People Who Care was established in 1980 by a small group of people concerned that the frail aged needed basic services if they were to go on living independently in their own homes. Operating initially from a small house in East Perth, the demand for PWC's services increased rapidly and the organisation soon outgrew its first home. In December, 1981, PWC was incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act of Western Australia. In 1990, PWC moved to new, larger quarters in Bayswater and moved again in 1999 to its present premises in Guildford.
The Organisation provides volunteer-based transport, home maintenance, centre-based day care, and social support services throughout the Perth Metropolitan area. Clientele are the frail aged and people with disabilities living independently in their own homes.

An 9 person Board of Directors, all external, manages PWC. 17 paid employees coordinate service delivery. They, assisted by office volunteers, receive calls seeking help. The coordinators then assign jobs to volunteers, paying due regard to location, duration of the task and volunteer availability. Also our dependable administration staff which includes an administrative assistant and bookkeeper help to keep operations running smoothly.
The organisation also has an Op Shop, which has a team of volunteers and one paid casual employee. They do an amazing job of sorting, cleaning and pricing donated items ready for sale.
